First issued in London in 1660 under the direction of John Pearson, the Critici Sacri was conceived as a companion to Walton's Polyglot Bible, bringing together, on an unprecedented scale, the annotations and critical writings of the leading Protestant and Catholic scholars of the previous century.

This expanded Amsterdam edition of 1698 is the fullest and most desirable form of the work.
