This work notably also mentions the invention of printing, names Nicolas Jenson as the first Venetian printer, and Lipmann cites the woodcut view of Rome to be the oldest known. However, clearly the most desirable aspect of this book is the very fine programme of woodcut decoration throughout which includes a large number of city views alongside other attractive woodcuts and initials. It is one of the most elaborately printed Chronicles of this period, and this is the first edition of it to include the addition of seven vignettes depicting Biblical characters. This edition formed the base text which was reprinted a large number of times throughout the sixteenth century.\u003c\/i\u003e\u003ci\u003e\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003e\u003ci\u003eScarce in commerce, particularly outside of Italy. Paper to boards rubbed with losses and some discolouration, shelf and edge wear, corners a little bumped. Joints secure with both boards securely attached, hinges cracked. Later blanks and endpapers (c.18th century), no attached bookplates, later pencil inscription to ffep recto in Italian. Without the title leaf and final blank (z10), otherwise collates as complete according to the USTC copies (22 recorded institutionally, just 2 in the UK), with the colophon extant and the suite of very attractive woodcuts. A few closed tears to bottom marginal space throughout not affecting text, one slightly larger tear to n2, not causing text loss.
