Shipping and Return Policy

Shipping Policy

Domestic orders (i.e. within the UK) are generally posted via Royal Mail within the UK up to an order value of £2,500. For orders of more than £2,500 different couriers may be used, or third party insurers used in conjunction with Royal Mail. All orders will be sent using a fully insured, tracked service. We may occasionally use other couriers for heavy and/or large orders, such as DHL, DPD, UPS, FedEx, ParcelForce, etc. The most common of these we have used for heavy orders are DHL or UPS. We are not specialist packagers of fine art and as such fine art of a size larger than approximately 40x40 cm or a value greater than £2,500 is generally sent with a specialist courier such as Mail Boxes Etc, Alban Shipping, etc and therefore will be subject to longer arrival times than books etc.

International orders are generally posted via Royal Mail when under 2kg and under £250 in value, though this has some variation depending on the destination country. For orders over 2kg or over £250 other couriers will be used such as DPD, DHL, UPS, FedEx, etc. DHL and UPS are the most common providers we use in this circumstance. The prices quoted for international shipping are automatically calculated and therefore we may be able to achieve a more affordable price if we are contacted prior to payment, though the automatic calculator is generally very accurate. We shipped more than 1,000 parcels internationally in the year 2023 and we make no profit from the amount we charge for postage. This also covers the cost of insurance, packaging, etc - we do not charge for our time in the postage cost. Any VAT, import duty, or additional charges related to the import/export of our products remains the sole responsibility of the buyer. For VAT applicable products (e.g. fine art, framed maps/prints, etc) this is included in the list price - e.g. a £10,000 painting includes £2,000 of VAT in the price. Books are rated at 0% for VAT.

Export Licenses

Occasionally we sell material of great historical significance which may be subject to an export license for international purchases. In this case significant delays can occur of an unspecified length, sometimes in excess of six months but generally much less. If we have access to previous export documentation for items this will be mentioned in the description. Having access to previous export documentation generally makes the process much faster and smoother. We will mention in the description if we believe export documentation will be required in order to process an international order. Generally no documentation is required for a change of ownership for sales within the UK, though there are some exceptional circumstances when some arrangements may need to be put in place (e.g. Droit de Suite / ARR). If this is the case it will of course be mentioned in the relevant description.

Your book(s) will be packaged securely. We have invested lots of time and money into ensuring our packaging is some of the best in the book industry. We use biodegradable bubblewrap, kraft tape, and sturdy cardboard boxes for all orders irrespective of value. We have shipped thousands of parcels across a significant number of countries and it is very rare that damage occurs. Even in the very rare event that the box(es) get damaged the significant majority of times the books inside are without any damage. Over 99.9% of orders arrive safely and without issue.

If you submit multiple orders, they may be sent in one or multiple packages. A tracking number will be emailed to you once your book has been dispatched which is almost always within one business day of the order being placed - the exceptions being if additional requirements are needed such as in the aforementioned cases.

We can only ship to the same address as given to us by the payment institution for security reasons and action against fraud. If you have entered the wrong shipping address and would like to change this, please contact us immediately and we will cancel your order so that you can re-purchase using the correct address. We are not liable for an order being sent to an incorrect address due to buyer error in this regard. We post to the address provided to us at the point of order only.

All orders are aimed to be dispatched within one business day of payment. The majority will be dispatched either the same day or on the next working day. Parcels are usually collected from us rather than dropped off.

Returns Policy.

We (WoodPaz Books Ltd) make every reasonable attempt to describe our books and other items as accurately as possible with detailed photos and condition descriptions. Some books will be hundreds of years old, with which condition issues naturally arise, so if purchasing very old books, we take every effort to describe their current state using industry standard terms such as Fine, Near Fine, Very Good, Good, Binding Copy, etc. Our main specialty is antiquarian books and manuscripts, but we also trade in fine art and also use industry standard terms for describing art which are broadly similar in their definitions - i.e. 'Fine' meaning without fault.

If unsatisfied for any reason, please contact us as soon as possible and we will carry out every reasonable action we can to resolve any issues you may have with your order(s). You have the right to cancel your order under the terms below.

Our return policy lasts for 14 days. If 14 days have gone by since your purchase arrived, unfortunately you are no longer eligible for a return.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it in. We cannot accept any returns if you have damaged an item whether accidentally or intentionally. Damage can include the removal of any parts of a book including any leaves, tipped-in material, etc, any tears, rips, stains, damage to joints or hinges, and any other damage or changes which were not present when the book was originally sent from WoodPaz Books Ltd. It must also be sent with all of the original packaging, including the invoice and all additional material which may or may not have originally accompanied the product (e.g. ephemera, A.L.S (signed letter(s)), clippings, etc).

Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund based on the criteria set out in this returns policy. If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your original method of payment, usually within 3-5 business days but often faster depending on the original payment method. If it has been longer than 10 business days please contact the financial institution in the first instance as once we have sent the email stating that the refund has been processed, this will be the case. If we are contacted with regard to a late or missing refund we will do as much as can be reasonably expected to aid the processing of the refund to your original method of payment, which may include providing proof that the refund process was initiated. We do reserve the right to redact certain information from this proof including personal data pertaining to the directors of WoodPaz Books Ltd where appropriate to do so. Please contact us in writing pertaining to any late or missing refunds at our email address: 'info.woodpaz@gmail.com'.

To return your order(s), please notify us of your intention to return either by the section pertaining to this on our website, or any other written form of contact with us, for example via our email ('info.woodpaz@gmail.com') or the Contact Us form on our website.

You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping/postage costs for returning your purchased item(s) including any applicable taxes or fees resulting from the returning of the item(s). The original shipping/postage costs are non-refundable. When you receive a refund, the cost of the original shipping will be deducted from your refund, or, in the event that we organise the return shipping by sending a pre-paid postage label, the cost of the return shipping will also be deducted from your refund.

If you are returning an item/items and arranging your own postage/shipping, we recommend using a service that offers tracking and/or purchasing insurance. We offer no guarantees towards the receiving of your returned item as this is out of our reasonable control and in the control of the courier used. If the item/items is/are lost in transit it is your responsibility to have the value of your return insured. We will not issue a return if we do not receive the returned product.

Cancellation of your order will not be possible for any reason outside of the aforementioned 14 day period.
