Contemporary full black morocco, very finely tooled in a panelled manner in gilt, with repeating motif to compartments between raised bands on the spine. Binding a little rubbed, minor shelf wear. Rear joints secure, front joints starting, top joint of the front board split, hinges cracked, but both boards holding securely. Remnants of a now removed bookplate to front pastedown. All edges gilt, very attractive. Original endpapers and pastedowns extant. Inscriptions relating to the Price and Curtis families to a preliminary blank verso, facing the Book of Common Prayer. Text block finely ruled in red throughout, exceptionally well preserved, indeed this is an internally fine copy, without fault. First page of the Apocrypha section is toned.
This is quite possibly the best preserved text block in a folio English Bible that we have ever encountered which is a particularly lovely find when coupled with such a magnificent contemporary fine binding.
