Original red cloth with gilt title in decorative border to front board, blind stamped boards, and gilt decorative title to spine. Binding bright with very minor scuffing and very light discolouration. Binding slightly cocked. Rear board detached, thus won't stand upright. Front board attached with hinge cracked and joint starting. Very small loss of cloth to the upper inner corner of the front board. Corners lightly turned-in. Shelf and edge wear. All page edges gilt. Bookplate attached to front pastedown. Ink gift inscription to ffep dated 1848. Very light edge toning to endpapers. Text block very clean with light edge toning and occasional foxing. First few leaves foxed and toned.
