Contemporary full calf, boards ruled in gilt, finely rebacked, very attractive on the shelf. Both cards are securely attached and the binding is secure. Original pastedowns and endpapers preserved with hinges attractively reinforced. Collates as complete with three maps, a plan, and two pages of illustrations with two images per page. Half title present, catchword on pp.397 repaired. Scattered mild foxing, plates offset as typical, very mildly toned, else generally a bright clean copy. Bookplate to the front pastedown recto. Edge toning to the first and last few leaves as commensurate with the binding. Plates and maps toned, offset, as typical, else bright and clean throughout the text, free from marginalia, extremely minor scattered foxing, and some small stains to B1.
