A nice early copy of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland preserved in its famous original red cloth binding with the suite of beautiful illustrations by John Tenniel.

Condition:
Original publisher's full red cloth binding, rubbed, worn to joints and backstrip extremities as usual, mild discolouration with backstrip dulled, shelf and edge wear, some bumps to corners, all edges gilt. Both boards attached, rear fragile with netting exposed, joints seemingly having been quite subtlety reinforced with glue. Final two leaves partially affixed to rear pastedown at inner side. Bookplate to front pastedown of H.B. Cole, some ownership inscriptions/stamps to half-title recto, one is dated Christmas 1881. A few leaves with some child scribbles, not losing legibility of text, else largely clean throughout.
