American Notes For General Circulation By Charles Dickens. In Two Volumes. Third Edition. London: Chapman and Hall, 1842, 8vo.
-------------------
An attractive early edition of Dickens' American Notes, an interesting travel account across America, including a section on slavery, scarce in the original publisher's bindings.
-------------------
Size: 130 x 204 mm (approx., each)
Condition:
Original publisher's cloth bindings, mild wear to extremities, minor discolouration, but generally bright and attractive. All boards attached, a little backstrip separation from the page blocks as typical, but with joints secure, first volume hinges cracked, bindings cocked, causing some protrusion of the first few quires at the fore-edge in the first volume. Some shelf and edge wear, corners bumped as typical. Original endpapers extant. No attached bookplates. Sporadic foxing and a few faded stains, but with the text blocks legible throughout. Text mildly toned, else a good copy.
