FIRST EDITION. A beautiful copy in a contemporary Cambridge panelled binding of this extremely rare work which is, as far as we can trace, entirely unknown in commerce either at auction or by book dealers in its first edition as here. We cannot trace any other copies having ever been offered for sale. It went through many editions through the subsequent decades after this first edition.

Condition:

Contemporary Cambridge panelled calf binding. Attractive. Rubbed, spine sunned, joints cracked but with both boards holding, attached. Lacks tooled label. Collates as complete according to the Leeds University Library copy. Without blanks. Pencil inscription and a contemporary ink inscription to front pastedown. Text block foxed, mildly toned throughout, but generally clean and legible. A nice copy of an extraordinarily rare first edition.
