Full brown calf with beautiful and intricate gilt tooling to both boards and compartments to the spine, and with a brown tooled label between raised bands. The spine has been rebacked with original backstrip fragments attached in compartments to the spine between raised bands, and a new tooled label. Joints and hinges reinforced with the rebacking. Both boards securely attached. Boards lightly rubbed and scuffed. Shelf and edge wear. Red page edges dulled, top edge darkened as often. No shelf lean. Bookplate attached to front pastedown. No ownership inscriptions. Text block very clean with light edge toning and occasional foxing.
