Modern quarter brown calf over marbled paper backed boards with a red tooled label in a compartment to the spine between raised bands. Binding near fine with few minor signs of wear. Both boards securely attached. Shelf and edge wear. Page edges dulled and toned with some gatherings sticking out slightly. Text block clean with light edge toning and sporadic foxing, and with some occasional marks. Title page of Part 1 creased with some loss at the edges, small tears, and inscriptions to the rear side. Some leaves more toned than others. Small edge loss to the first few and last few leaves. Some minor wormholing through most of the text block. Small number of ink marginalia. Some loss to the leaf edge of pp.157/158 / P1, with no loss of text or sense. Numerous ink inscriptions to the back side of the title page of Part 2. Some damp staining to some of the leaves, most prominently to the last few leaves. Small loss to the edge of pp.323-326 with small loss of text. Lacking all leaves between the first title page and pp.39, and then the most of the leaves of the index at the rear, the book should collate as follows: [16], 280, [6], 281-877, [33] pp., (the first leaf is blank).
