A very large folio King James Bible, being one of the most comprehensive editions of its day, with an abundance of commentary from the greatest English theologians of the 18th century, abundantly illustrated throughout with a large quantity of full leaf plates, maps, plans, etc. One of the largest Bibles produced in this time period at 43 cm tall. This is also bound with a Concordance (Cruden’s) from 1789 printed in the same format and so presumably printed to accompany this edition despite the date being two years later.

Contemporary full calf, rubbed with scuffs, some loss to the leather, shelf wear, early to mid 19th century rebacking preserving an earlier, probably original, tooled red morocco label. Some discolouration. Joints cracked but with both boards attached. Later blanks. Lacks one leaf from the Preface and seemingly one leaf at the end (Index), but the text of the Bible is complete as is the text of the Concordance. Collates with a total of 50 full page plates/maps/etc. Many preliminary leaves with edge restoration or with the leaves laid down, also a few plates laid down, some leaves a bit ragged at edges, mildly toned throughout, sporadic minor small stains, full text legible without loss of sense, else generally clean throughout.
