Containing: 1) Orbis Veteribus Notus, 2) Orbis Romani, pars Orientalis, 3) Orbis Romani, Pars Occidentalis, 4) Britannia Romana, 5) Gallia, 6) Italiae, 7) Graeciae, 8) Greece and its Colonies as they existed in the 4th Century BC, 9) Asiae Minor et Syriae, 10) Palaestina, 11) Aegyptus, 12) Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and the British Isles. 

A beautiful example of D'Anville's famous Atlas of Ancient Geography, complete with all 12 maps in excellent condition with a particularly attractive tooled morocco label to the front board. Undated to the title page, but with each map dated between 1820 and 1821, with the majority dated 12th May 1821.

Most of the maps measure 740 x 547 mm with some being smaller.



Condition: 

A few small spots of foxing to the endpapers else internally exceptionally clean with the maps all near fine to fine. No rips, tears, stains, etc to any maps. All 12 maps are present. Internally collated as complete with the title page. Half calf over marbled boards with a very attractive and large red tooled morocco label to the front board with gilt title. With an early 20th century ownership inscription to the title page and a blindstamped ex libris stamp to the head of the title page of Bath Library with no further stamps on any of the maps or blanks.
