Bound from the original parts in an interesting binding, perhaps a variant publisher's binding? Probably a mid 19th century binding in an unusual manner.

Condition: 

Cloth spine prominently worn with tears. Label present with prominent sunning and toning - text mostly illegible. Both boards attached with prominent wear to joints and hinges, including them starting; most prominent wear to rear hinge and joint. Partial spine and text block separation at the bottom of the backstrip, seen from the inside of the rear board. Hardcover boards with uneven sunning, superficial scratches, and foxing. Pen inscription on ffep with the date "Dec '51".  Ffep and rear endpaper facing pastedown prominently toned. Endpapers with minor foxing. Frontispiece and engraved title page toned and foxed. Title page with light toning to edges and very minor foxing. Text block extremely clean with very light toning to edges and sporadic very minor foxing. Plates with some foxing, mostly around edges. Plate facing pp. 331 with small green marks of reverso. Uncollated.
