Contemporary very fine binding by Asprey which shows very attractively indeed on the shelf with bright gilt and bright leather. Rear board a little rubbed, minor rubbing to joints and raised bands, but generally externally near fine. All edges gilt, some discolouration & scratches. Gilt initials to front board of 'E.C.' (?) with an early photograph to front inner board, most likely of the original owner and commissioner of the binder. Endpapers foxed, else very clean throughout the text block, some leaves dog-eared.
