Rebound half brown calf over brown cloth backed boards with red and black tooled labels in compartments on the spines between raised bands. Bindings in very good condition with very minor signs of wear, some light marks/discolouration. Slight shelf lean but both volumes remain upright. Bookplate attached to front pastedown in volume one. New blanks, lacking originals. Page edges dulled and top edges darkened as often. Text blocks extremely clean with very light toning and occasional foxing. Page number and roman numeral page numbering are not for pages but for the columns, thus each page has two page numbers, i.e., the first page has both pp.1 and pp.2. Repair to a whole to the half title in volume two (lean N) which has affected the test, lacking one letter "E". Small wormholing to the index leaves in volume two, affecting some text. Very minor shelf and edge wear in places. Damp staining near the start of volume two at the top inner corners. Bound without the maps.
