-------------------

A very interesting exegetical commentary on the New Testament by Johannis Vorstii and Horatius Vitringa examining the Jewish roots of the New Testament writings as well as the etymology of the language, with many quotes taken from the original Greek and Hebrew. A very rare work of early New Testament scholarship written in Latin, Greek, and Hebrew.

Condition:

[lxxii, 856pp, 16ff (index)]

Early 19th century full calf, the spine decorated in gilt with floral motifs, retaining the majority of its original tooled morocco label, some lacking. Spine sunned and rubbed with small pieces lacking. Joints cracked with front board detached, the rear attached but fragile. Bookplate to front pastedown. Endpapers replaced. Text block mildly toned throughout, generally very clean with the occasional small spot of foxing else internally presentable. The text is never without loss of sense.
