A lovely example of the Foulis Press copy of Cornelius Nepos, the important ancient Roman biographer, this edition containing biographies of many important figures such as Atticus, Hannibal, Cato, and many others.

An lovely copy, beautifully finely bound by R. Nelson in full red morocco with spine compartments & boards lined in gilt, all edges gilt. Spine dulled and rubbed. Joints slightly rubbed, uncracked, with both boards securely attached, the binding secure, and without shelf lean. Minor shelf and edge wear. Top edge a little discoloured as typical else other edges remain very good, uncut, with top edge gilt only. Without any attached bookplates, binding signed at bottom of ffep, but with the binder stamp a bit faded. Text block generally clean and bright, mildly toned as typical, else internally very good. Light ex-bookseller pencil inscription to foot of ffep. Pages uncut so differing at edges, some a little ragged, as published. A very nice copy.
