A magnificent copy of this highly desirable edition of Dante's Inferno finely illustrated by Gustave Dore, here being one of the best obtainable copies in a stunning fine binding, particularly scarce for being a contemporary binding and in such excellent condition.

Size: 300 x 385 mm (approx.)
Condition:
Half morocco over cloth backed boards with a gilt title to the spine between raised bands, other compartments with bright decorative gilt. Binding rubbed and scuffed, more so to the rear board. Both boards attached with hinge repairs. Shelf and edge wear. Marbled page edges somewhat dulled. Bookplate and sticker to front pastedown. detachable corner bookmark (?) triangular paper to front marbled blank. Bookplate has a pen line diagonally cross it. Text block very clean with light edge toning and occasional foxing. Uncollated.
