Contemporary Cambridge panelled binding, a beautiful copy externally. Spine with some loss to gilt, retains the tooled red morocco label, very attractive indeed. Joints cracked but with both boards securely attached, the binding secure, and without shelf lean. Boards bright and attractive. A little shelf and edge wear. Bookplate of W.A. Foster to ffep recto. Some contemporary writing on the verso of the second bifold plate which gives a list of some information in a very neat hand (verso of Y3). Portrait count: 25, bifold plates count: 26. Lacks frontispiece map (*1), as often, else collates as complete. Heavily foxed through the text block, more so in the first half, as well as some toning to edges and versos of plates. Plates very attractive.
