Fine full calf binding with two gilt tooled labels to spine compartments between raises bands with other compartments tooled in gilt, and boards blindstamped with gilt borders. Lovely gilt turn-ins. Binder's stamp appears to have been rubbed out to the top of the front blank. Binding in a lovely condition with very minor rubbing to spine and some light discolouration to boards. Some loss of gilt to the bottom of the spine, to the date section, however, still presents nicely on the shelf. Small loss to the top left corner of the title tooled label. Both boards attached with rubbing along the front joint, rear joint cracked, rear hinge cracked, and minor wear to the front hinge, thus very fragile. Very minor shelf and edge wear, more so to corners. All page edges gilt with few scratches and minor loss. No shelf lean. Ribbon page marked detached. Edge toning to endpapers as commensurate with the full calf binding. First few and last few leaves with some foxing. Very small tears to the fore-edges of the frontis, title page, and dedication, as well as some sporadic leaves. Very small wormhole to the centre of the title page, does not affect any text legibility. Engraved title page trimmed at the fore-edge more so than other leaves. Dulled ink inscription to the head of the dedication. Text block very clean with light toning and occasional foxing. Plates toned with very minor foxing as typical. Small repair to the top of the last leaf of text block, does not affect any text.
