Bound in quarter leather with earlier boards and a rebacked spine. Tooled label present. Very minor rubbing to spine. Both boards securely attached with reinforced joints. Boards with minor scuffing and rubbing. Shelf and edge wear. New green pastedown and endpapers attached. Dulling to page edges. Frontispiece, engraved title page and plates with some toning and minor foxing, only slightly oxidised compared to how they are typically found. Text block very clean with light toning and very sporadic very minor foxing.
Collated as complete with 38 plates by Phiz (plus frontis and engraved title page), plate 35 being the first published example of a dark plate.
