Pencil ownership inscription reading "Bernard Stace 4 Cavendish Place Bath. Jan 1995." Probably referencing Bernard Stace (fl. 1983-1998) a Bath-based historian, author, and long-serving guide at Bath Abbey, active from the late 20th century into the 1990s. He wrote several works on the Abbey, including Bath Abbey (Pitkin Guides, 1991) and Bath Abbey: Monuments (1993), and contributed research to local history groups such as the History of Bath Research Group.

Condition:
Full red calf bindings with lovely decorative gilt to boards and spines, with gilt titles and volume numbers in compartments to the spines between raised bands. Bindings rubbed and scuffed with some marks. All boards attached with rubbing along joints some joints and hinges starting. Shelf and edge wear. Spines slightly cocked. Gilt page edges with some white marks to the top edge of volume one. Pencil ownership inscription to front blank in volume one. Text blocks toned with sporadic foxing. Uncollated.
