A MAGNIFICENT EXTRA-ILLUSTRATED SET IN CONTEMPORARY BINDINGS WITH NUMEROUS ENGRAVED PORTRAITS.

Bookplate of Charles William Packe Esq'r.
-------------------
Size: 206 x 400 mm (approx., each)

Contemporary full calf bindings with fine decorative gilt borders and blindstamped boards, and a gilt title to the spines. Bindings rubbed and scuffed with some scratches. Some spines slightly sunned. Both boards detached from Vol I., Vol I Pt I., Vol I Pt II., Vol II., Vol II Pt II., Vol III Pt I. Other boards attached with cracked joints and hinges or starting, thus fragile. Vol II pt I, and Vol III pt II rebacked. Some boards warped (as bound?). Shelf and edge wear. All edges gilt, some scratches. Bookplate attached to front pastedowns in all volumes. Text blocks generally very clean with light toning and sporadic foxing, very small dampstain to Vol I pt II affecting the bottom blank marginal space of a few leaves. Uncollated.
