-------------------
Early Venetian polemical treatise against Protestantism, printed in 1553 by Domenico Zio (date given by EDIT16). The anonymous author sets out to “confirm and establish all the Catholic dogmas” while systematically overturning the “482 foundations, motives, and reasons” of the Lutheran heresy. Addressed to the “pio lettore,” it exhorts readers to remain steadfast in the true and ancient faith of the Fathers, presenting itself as a comprehensive confutation of “tutto il Luteranesimo.”
An evocative product of the Catholic Counter-Reformation at mid-century, reflecting the urgency of Italian presses to rebut and suppress Protestant theology. A scarce survival from the Venetian polemical press.
