Fine full red calf binding by Bumpus, Oxford, with a particularly beautiful fore-edge painting of the Holy Family with the text "Christmas Greetings" to the top and "The Holy Family" to the bottom. The book is the first edition of this work.
Fine full red calf binding with gilt tooled title and author in compartments to the spine between raised bands, other compartments with a tooled flower. Spine rubbed, causing some discolouration. Both boards securely attached with very minor wear to joints and hinges. Boards lightly rubbed and scuffed with some discolouration. Shelf and edge wear. All page edges gilt with the fore-edge painting appearing when the leaves are spread. Light pencil inscriptions to ffep. Rubbed out pencil inscriptions to front pastedown. Edge toning to endpapers as commensurate with the binding. Frontispiece foxed. Text block very clean with some edge toning and very occasional foxing.
