Full calf with gilt tooling to spines. All title tooled labels present with only one of the volume number labels remaining for volume two. Spines rubbed, more so to the extremities. Headcap of volume five lacking. Tailcap of volume one previously reattached. Tailcap of volume three lacking. Tailcap of volume six cracked with a smaller fragment detached and hanging with a small piece of thread. All boards attached with cracking along joints, most joints remaining intact, and hinges starting. Boards with some rubbing, scratching, and spots of discolouration. Shelf and edge wear. Minor shelf lean to all volumes but remain upright, with the most prominent lean to volume six which does not remain upright. Page edges dulled. Text blocks very clean with very light toning and very sporadic very minor foxing. Second title page in volume one, after pp.482, with a large portion of loss (see photo). Preface missbound between text block leaves to the rear of volume one (see collation). Rear blanks in volume one without the top page edge cut. Closed tear with no loss to the half title and title page in volume four. Very small wormhole to the top outer edge of leaves from pp.113 throughout the remainder of the text block to the rear pastedown, getting slightly larger and not affecting any text.
