Beautifully bound in full red leather with beautiful gilt boards. A fairly early edition of Pope's famous translation of both The Iliad and The Odyssey, generally regarded as a fantastic edition for preserving the poetic nature of the original Greek.

Bookplate of Cruikshank, Keithock with the motto "Cavendo Tutus".

 Signatures of "Gabriel Cruikshank 1822" (?), and "James Crabb 1852".

Condition: 

Collated as complete through each volume. Very minor rubbing to spines, primarily to heads and bottoms. Pen mark on spine of Odyssey volume one. All boards securely attached with very minor wear to joints and hinges. Very minor wear to boards and very minor marks. Shelf and edge wear. Page edge gilt bright with very minor scratches. Cruickshank bookplate attached to front pastedown in all volumes. Unnamed bookplate attached to ffep. in Odyssey volume one. Pen ownership inscriptions on preliminaries. Very minor foxing on engraved title pages. Damp stain to engraved title page and title page in Odyssey volume two. Text blocks very clean with light toning and very minor foxing. Minor foxing on endpapers. Minor shelf lean.
