Officium Defunctorum, that is, Prayers for the Dead. A section from a Book of Hours, 29 consecutive pp of a larger work, 15th century illuminated manuscript, probably produced in France.

-------------------

A beautiful illuminated manuscript in an attractive gothic hand, text in black and red in single line format. Lots of two line initials illuminated in gold, blue, and red, with some fine marginal scroll work decoration. The manuscript is ruled in red throughout. This is 15 leaves (29pp, final pp blank), from a larger work, likely all that survives.
