A very nice early edition of Johannes Clericus' important scientific work, complete with the beautiful engraved plates. Interestingly, the very large foldout map is marked with the prevailing winds in one of the first attempts to describe these.

Full brown panelled calf binding, lacking tooled label, lightly rubbed and scuffed. Both boards attached with joints cracked, and front hinge starting, thus somewhat fragile. Shelf and edge wear. Red page edges dulled and darkened. No attached bookplates. Ink and pencil inscriptions to front blank. Text block very clean with edge toning and occasional foxing. Endpapers toned and foxed. Twelve plates present, some foldout.
