A STUNNING EARLY ANTIQUE KING JAMES BIBLE CONTAINING THE BOOK OF COMMON PRAYER AND WHOLE BOOK OF PSALMS! ALSO CONTAINING THE COMPLETE PROTESTANT APOCRYPHA!

-------------------

A beautiful antique Bible bound in reverse calf in notably excellent condition. A remarkable survivor, being a very comprehensive publication with all of the original apocryphal books which were later removed from the KJV, as well as the Old and New Testaments, Book of Psalms, and even the Book of Common Prayer.
This was printed by one of the most infamous printers in the history of the English Bible, John Baskett. It is from his name we get the phrase "basket case", originally from "a Baskett-full of errors", or a "Baskett case", owing to the large amounts of misprints in his editions of the Bible, the most famous being the Parable of the Vineyard in Luke 20 being printed as the Parable of the Vinegar in his 1717 edition of the Bible. Despite this, his printings of the King James Bible were some of the most beautifully printed and we can clearly see that here with such lovely typography. A very readable edition despite being centuries old!

Full reverse calf binding with an earlier tooled red morocco label laid to the spine. Rose stamped design to spine with 1732 date to the foot. Binding a little rubbed but generally excellent, secure with both boards attached and without shelf lean, hinges reinforced with cloth, endpapers replaced, else collates as complete through each section. First gathering [a8] reattached with some edge repair in the gutter. Internally excellent, mildly toned throughout, more so to the BCP title page as expected. Page edges similarly excellent. A fantastic early King James Bible, fully readable throughout.
