A lovely set in excellent contemporary half red morocco bindings with abundant illustrations throughout, both in-text and full plates. Indeed hundreds of engravings throughout. Here being the original six volumes being bound into three. A lovely bound set with all edges gilt.

Contemporary half red morocco with gilt tooling in compartments to the spines separated by raised bands. Retains the original tooled morocco label. Spines uniformly sunned/dulled but shows very attractively on the shelf, rubbed with a small amount of loss. Joints similarly rubbed but secure with all boards securely attached, bindings secure and without shelf lean. Boards very good with minor discolouration. Shelf and edge wear. Page edges of the third volume (i.e., vols 5-6) have more foxing when spread. All edges gilt, very good. Without any attached bookplates or ownership inscriptions. Some foxing to endpapers, else, generally very clean throughout with all text fully legible. The type is set with nice wide margins.
