Magna Brittania et Hibernia, Antiqua et Nova. Or, A New Survey of Great Britain, wherein to the Topographical Account given by Mr. Cambden, and the late Editors of his Brittania, is added a more large History, [...], London: M. Nutt et al., 1720-1731.

FIRST EDITION, five of six volumes (only), containing the counties of, in alphabetical order, Bedford through to Essex, Gloucester to Lincoln, London to Northumberland, Nottingham to Somersetshire, and Staffordshire to Warwickshire, lacking Westmoreland to Yorkshire. Contemporary full calf bindings finely panelled in a Cambridge manner. Bindings rubbed with loss, particularly to the backstrip of the second volume which is mostly lacking. Tooled labels all lacking except for the one to volume one. All boards are attached, some joints starting, but all are secure. Bookplates/stickers and some ownership inscriptions to front pastedowns, preliminary blanks, and title pages in most volumes, one of which mentions the binding of the volumes in the early 18th century. A few leaves detached in places but textually collates as complete, each volume is bound without any maps or plates. Generally clean through the text blocks, mildly toned, with the text without loss of sense. A rare set.
