John Galsworthy is a Nobel Prize in Literature (1932) winner who is most famous for his Forsyte Saga. The Maid in Waiting is the first book of Galsworthy's last trilogy titled End of Chapter. The remaining two books in the trilogy are called Flowering Wilderness (1932) and Over the River (1933).

Condition: 

[half title, title, dedication, 349pp].

 

Spine with some very minor sunning and marks. Both boards securely attached with some discolouration, very minor marks, and loss of gilt. Very minor shelf wear. Page edges unevenly cut with some page edges remaining uncut. Pastedown and endpapers toned with minor foxing. Text block very clean with light toning to edges. Text block paper has very small spots throughout, mostly to edges, which appears to be how the book was printed.

Number '65' written in pencil on the spine of the slipcase. Bottom side of slipcase loosely attached with three hinges and two joints cracked; remaining joint starting. Pencil mark "22" on the inner side of bottom partially detached side. Else some uneven sunning and very minor scuffing externally. Shelf and edge wear.
