-------------------
A beautiful Italian capriccio with figures among classical ruins. Executed in the manner of Giovanni Paolo Panini, the important artist primarily known for his capriccios, active during the mid 18th century. This painting follows Panini's style and dates from circa the late 18th century.

Size: 330 x 240 mm (approx.)
Note: some heavy craquelure across the surface of the canvas, a small repair patch to verso, visible on the recto, the canvas being dirty as pictured. Would benefit from some sympathetic cleaning. Has not been relined and is on contemporary stretcher bars. A very attractive painting nonetheless which shows excellently on the wall.
