Provenance:
Blind stamped boards with the coat of arms of Charles Stuart, 1st Baron Stuart de Rothesay (1779-1845). Depicting a Tudor shield with a baron's crown above. The shield has a star with fourteen small squares below. In heraldry the star, or the mullet, was a mark used to symbolise the third son. Charles was the oldest son of General Charles Stuart, who was the third son of the third Earl of Bute. He was a British diplomat who was the ambassador to France and Russia.

Spines very lightly sunned with very minor marks and rubbing. Tooled labels present. All boards attached with minor wear to joints and hinges, some starting. Boards with blind stamps, very minor rubbing and superficial scratches. Shelf and edge wear. Dulling to page edges. Text blocks very clean with light toning and very minor foxing. Some pages more foxed than others.
