FIRST EDITION

-------------------

Dickens' biographer, Peter Ackroyd says in his work that Nicholas Nickleby "has some title to being the funniest novel Dickens ever wrote; it is perhaps the funniest novel in the English language" (pp.262)

A very early impression with "flys" for "flies" misprint on pp.245 line 10, "visiters" for "visitors" pp.272 line 2, "incontestible" for "incontestable" pp.297 line 22, and "suprise" for "surprise" pp.586 line 24, but without "latter" for "letter" pp.160 line 43, and with the plate to the verso of pp.18 in the second state without the Chapman & Hall imprint at the foot.
