The title translates to "On Peritonitis in Postpartum Women". It is a scholarly medical work discussing the condition of peritonitis in women who have recently given birth, and thus, of interest to collectors of early medical texts and particularly gynaecological, this copy being particularly special for being a presentation copy from the author.

Contemporary full tree (or marbled) calf with nice gilt tooled boarders to the boards, as well as grand tour style designs to the spine. Spine lacks original tooled label, but we can see that it did say "De Peritonitid." Joints rubbed, cracked to the front with the front board attached but fragile, and rear board securely attached. Boards a little rubbed and scuffed but show nicely. Minor shelf wear with very slight losses at corners. Binding is secure with a very slight shelf lean. Top page edges slightly dulled. Bookplate to front pastedown of the recipient named in the presentation inscription on the ffep. Internally excellent, very clean throughout, the typography of this edition is lovely, as is the paper used, and the type.
