[(1), A1-A6, a1-a6, B1-Z6, 2A1-2F6, (1)]

20th century fine binding, full calf, the spine with raised bands delineating compartments lined in gilt, a tooled red morocco label laid down to the spine with the date in gilt to the foot, very attractive. Binding a little rubbed, but with both boards securely attached, the binding secure, and without shelf lean. An excellent copy externally. Collated as complete, including the half title for each of the 12 books. Lacks the original blanks, replaced with modern ones commensurate with the binding, but textually complete. Ink ownership inscription to head of title on Jane Priddle (circa 1830), and the ownership stamp to front pastedown and ffep verso of Professor Robert Paul. Mildly toned throughout the text block with a few spots of foxing, else very clean throughout. The text is fully legible without loss of sense. A couple of pencil inscriptions and an ink inscription to the blank verso of the final leaf which lacks its bottom corner, no effect to text.

An excellent copy of Milton's Paradise Lost.
