which roughly translates to "To Charles P. Isaac, a student at Balliol College under ? and for five years a student in the Edward VI School at Bromsgrove, a gift from John D. Collis, M.A., for every friend, pupil, master, all things prosperous and happy in this life and the eternal ages, prayed for. The same, in the year of salvation 1849".

Spines rubbed. Six out of eight tooled labels present with minor rubbing and some lacking very small fragments. Wear to heads and bottoms of spines. All boards attached with minor wear to joints and hinges, some starting. Boards with minor scuffing and very minor sunning to the tops of boards. Shelf and edge wear. Dulling to page edges. Text block very clean with light toning and very sporadic very minor foxing.
