FIRST EDITION. An attractive copy, handsomely preserved despite being in a fragile contemporary paper binding, housed in a modern book box, of this monastic history of the Benedictines, specifically the monastery of Santa Giustina as well as a description of Padua. It is quite rare, with just five institutional copies recorded (all in German libraries).

Provenance:
This copy, Dominic Winter 20 January 2021 lot 309.

Size: 190 x 240 mm (approx.)
book box - 206 x 256 mm (approx.)
Condition:
Contemporary paper binding with title in ink MS to spine, unusually well preserved. Both boards securely attached, binding secure. A little discolouration, some ink stains to rear board, dust soiling. Front pastedown lifting slightly. Some staining to title page, minor worming at foot. First four leaves also with a small tear at the head, the first three of which have a small hole, mild staining, otherwise clean throughout. Text block ends at 2P5, so plausibly lacking a final leaf (blank, colophon, or printer's device); this copy is bound without blanks.
