-------------------

Provenance:

Armorial bookplate of "Joseph Granville Stuart Goff, Hale Park". Joseph (1851-1881) was the Justice of Peace for Hampshire and a lieutenant in the 43rd Regiment. Joseph inherited Hale Park from his grandfather, Joseph Goff (1778-1875), after his death. He remained the owner of the Park until his own death at the age of 30 in 1881. The house was later passed down to his brother, Gerald Lionel Joseph Goff (1855-1899), who was a colonel in the army.

Hale Park was build by Thomas Archer (1668-1743), a baroque architect and member of the Royal Household of Queen Anne (in 1705). Hale Park was build in 1712 after the demolition of an Elizabethan mansion designed by John Webb () for the Penruddock family. The House was Later remodelled in 1792 by Henry Holland, and then again in the 19th century by the Goff family.
