Bookplate of the Library at Brocket Hall depicting a lion rampant holding a star with a crown above. Brocket Hall Estate is a large country house in Hertfordshire. The main house is a Grade I listed building. The current owner is the 3rd Baron Brocket.
The bookplate of Lord Walter Kerr, G.C.B. (1839-1927) who had a long career in the Navy, holding the positions of an officer in the Royal Navy, Flag Captain to the Commander-in-Chief, the Second in Command of the Mediterranean Fleet, the Commander in Chief of the Channel Squadron, and of the First Naval Lord.
Ink ownership inscription of J Shrawby (?).

Full brown calf binding with blind-stamped boards, and blind-stamped bands to the spine. Binding rubbed and scuffed with some discolouration marks. Both boards attached with cracked joints and hinges, front board very fragile. Damp staining to front board. Shelf and edge wear. Page edges toned. Two bookplates and an ownership inscription to the front board. Very small hole to the first blank and detached. Text block lightly toned with occasional foxing.
