Armorial bookplate depicting three shelf in a shield with the name "Tho. Bisse" and surrounded with floral designs and a dragon and a two headed snake. Potentially referring to Thomas Bisse (1675-1731) who was an Anglican clergyman and writer (author of The Beauty of Holiness in the Common Prayer).

An ink ownership inscription of "Rodolph De Salis 1932".

Volumes one and two only. Full brown calf bindings with red tooled label in compartments to the spines between raised bands. Bindings rubbed and scuffed with some discolouration. All boards attached with wear to joints and hinges, some cracked or starting. Shelf and edge wear, corners lightly turned-in. Slight shelf lean but both volumes remain upright. Red spotted page edges dulled, top edges darkened. Armorial bookplate attached to front pastedown in both volumes. Ink ownership inscription to ffep in both volumes. Text blocks very clean with light toning and occasional foxing.
