This book contains a collection of satirical texts, opening with Justus Lipsius and his Satyra Menippaea Somnium. Each text has it's own half title. The texts by Greek authors are presented in Greek on the left pages and Latin on the right pages. Others include Petri Nanni on Virgil, Misopogon by the Roman Emperor Julian, and several others.

Size: 82 x 125 mm (approx.)
Condition:
Volume one (only) of two. Collated as complete in 281pp (numbered) plus the various unnumbered leaves. Probably original full vellum binding, very smart indeed in notably excellent condition, just with some discolouration to the vellum as typical, but significantly better than typical for similar period vellum bindings. There are no external title/author writings and the binding is plain. Page edges coloured red, dulled with a bit of colour loss at the fore edge. Some pencil writings to front pastedown from a previous bookseller. Some very minor staining through the text block affecting a few leaves but generally internally very clean and fully legible. Binding slightly cocked, without any shelf lean.
