It remains surprisingly rare to find the works of Goldoni, particularly bound in such a fine manner. These are truly very attractive on the shelf.
-------------------
Contains the bookplate with the inscription “Philosophemur" (let us philosophise), which belongs to Dr. James Musgrave. He owned many books worthy of note, including the later ownership of Sir Isaac Newton's personal library.
After James' death, his son moved the library to Barnsley Park, a country house in Gloucestershire. It is unknown whether the book was one of the moved books or if it was passed on before that.
The bookplate also bears the inscription "Ex Thame Park" located in Oxfordshire, which contains some of the oldest enclosed parklands. The Park was build upon a former Cistercian Abbey.
