Prize binding of St. Bartholomew's School, Newbury, founded in 1466, with the School's crest reading "Schola Sancti Bartholomaei" and "Ad Lucem" (Towards the Light). Together with an ink inscription reading "Newbury Grammar School - July 1906 - Prize for music to A. Hollands Junr. E Shamord Smith Head Master."
Bookplate reading "Borough of Newbury. Reference Library" with handwritten shelf mark.

Near contemporary prize half calf over green boards with a red tooled label in a compartment between raised bands, other compartments with gilt tooling. Spine sunned and lightly rubbed. Both boards securely attached with light rubbing along joints. Boards with some edge toning near to spines and some minor rubbing and scuffing. Marks to the top outer corner of the rear boar. Page edges marbled, somewhat dulled but show well. Bookplate attached to front pastedown. Ink inscription to the reverso of the ffep. Ex-library stamp to front blank. Text block very clean with edge toning, and very occasional foxing.
