A very good copy of the first Baskerville edition of Lucretius in a particularly attractive fine binding.

Size: 228 x 284 mm (approx.)

Condition:

[(2), t.p., A-Mm4, (2)]

20th century quarter morocco finely tooled in gilt, very attractive on the shelf indeed, using an evidently high quality leather. A delightful fine binding. Some very minor rubbing & shelf wear, else the binding is generally in fine condition. Both boards are securely attached, the binding is secure, and stands without shelf lean. Hinges reinforced. Without any attached bookplates or ownership inscriptions. Generally very clean through the text block, some spotting to endpapers, and a small area of dampstaining in the upper gutter through the text block - maximal in the upper gutter of the title page (pictured), and reducing throughout, never touching the text. The full text is legible without loss of sense. Collates as complete, pagination terminates at pp.280. A very good copy of the first Baskerville edition of Lucretius in a particularly attractive fine binding.

[Gaskell 43].
