- pp.72, line 8, period after "master".

- pp.125 & 174, type loose in the last five lines.

- pp. 166, line 1, h in "mother" printed incorrectly with top part missing.

- pp.170, line 7, & pp.171, 2 lines up, some words closely spaced.

- Vignette title page the publisher, "Chapman and Hall" is centred below the names of artists and engravers at the foot.

Fine full calf binding with gilt borders to the boards, and a gilt title in a compartment to the spine between raised bands, other compartments with decorative gilt. Binding with very minor wear. Front board detached with the blanks, and the rear board attached with a cracked joint and hinge starting. Shelf and edge wear. All page edges gilt. No attached bookplates or ownership inscriptions. Text blocks with light edge toning and occasional foxing. Original publisher's cloth bound in at the rear.
