Provenance:

Armorial bookplate reading "The Achievement of John Earle of Wigtonn Lord Fleming" with the motto "let the deed shaw". It belonged to the eleventh Lord Fleming, the sixth Earl of Wigton, Sir John Fleming (1673-1744).

Also there is a Library bookplate of Carberry Tower Library with the shelf location of "X:2:", which got there through Lord Fleming's grandson who owner Carberry Tower, Scotland.

Full calf binding with some wear, more so to extremities. Lacking tooled label. Some loss to head and bottoms of the backstrip and to corners of boards. Shelf and edge wear with loss. No shelf lean. Dulling to page edges with toning to the top edge as typical. Bookplate and library bookplate attached to front pastedown. Ink letters "H" and "a" to ffep with two small holes and edge toning as commensurate with the binding and some foxing. Text block very clean with occasional toning and foxing, small number of leaves more so than others. Remnants of a contemporary piece of paper reading "History of Sweden" attached to the page edge of pp.57, sticking out, with a tear, prominent toning, and creasing (see photo). Endpapers toned with foxing and marks.
